About Website

This site was created to honor my guru, Living Buddha Sheng-yen Lu (蓮生活佛) and treasure the Buddhadharma. The name sukaidan comes from the Japanese characters 皇海壇 which translates to "The Great Ocean's Mandala" or "The Dragon King's Shrine" in the context of Buddhism. The name came up mysteriously when I was seeking a domain name for this website, so it is very special. My guru's instructions are compiled here for English speakers who wish to learn more about Buddha-nature. May these collections provide wisdom and guidance to your daily life. May the obstacles you face be eliminated by learning and applying the Buddha's teachings. May you attain awakening, accumulate merit, and spiritual progress to discover your most subtle mind.

For over 40 years, my guru has been spreading the Buddhadharma without rest, and his disciples have translated some of his works from Chinese into English. Having the affinity to study from a Living Buddha is extremely precious, and with patience and perseverance, I wish we all can succeed in the practice of self-mastery. By being mindful of causes and effects, this moment can be truly happy and liberating.

English translations of my guru have not been easy to find and gather, but it is worth it for making the study and practice of the Dharma possible for myself and everyone who comes here.

I hope you find this website useful!
